Tourism revenue increased 27.1 percent in the third quarter of the year – Last Minute Economy News

The Turkish Statistical Institute has announced the tourism statistics for the period July-September of this year and updated them.

It was stated that while new veri sources were integrated into the system kakım part of the review, methodological improvements and retrospective updates were made up to 2012.

As a result, tourism revenue increased 27.1% in the third quarter compared to the same quarter a year earlier. In the aforementioned period, the tourism income was 17 billion 952 million 361 thousand dollars.

14.3% of the tourist income was obtained by citizens residing abroad who visited Turkey.

In the aforementioned period, $ 12 billion 562 million 557 thousand of expenses were personal expenses and $ 5 billion 389 million 804 thousand were expenses for organized travel.

During this period, the average spending per night of visitors departing from Turkey was 89 dollars, while the average spending on overnight stays by citizens residing abroad was 62 dollars.

MOST VISITS ARE MADE FOR TRAVEL, ENTERTAINMENT AND SPORT

The number of visitors departing from Turkey increased by 54% over this period and reached 21 million 128 people. 11.3 percent of them were citizens residing abroad with 2 million 374 thousand 125 people.

In the aforementioned period, all types of expenditure, excluding healthcare and other expenses, increased compared to the same quarter of the previous year. Expenses for package tours (the remaining share for Turkey) increased by 110.5%, expenses for sports, education and culture increased by 81.7% and expenses for international transport increased by 35, 7%.

During this period, foreign visitors visited Turkey with 75.1% mainly for “travel, entertainment, sports and cultural activities”. “Visiting family and friends” took second place with 17.8 percent, and “shopping” took third place with 2.6 percent.

Citizens residing abroad, on the other hand, arrived in Turkey mainly with the aim of “visiting relatives and friends” with 64.5 per cent.

Expenditure on tourism, which consists of the expenses of citizens residing in the country and visiting other countries, increased by 89.3 percent compared to the same quarter of the previous year and became 1 billion 106 million 285 thousand dollars. 907 million 483 thousand dollars of this was personal and 198 million 803 thousand dollars was spent on organized travel.

The number of citizens visiting abroad in this quarter increased by 137.3 percent compared to the same quarter of the previous year and reached 2 million 72 thousand 116 people. Their average spend per person was $ 534.

REVENUES FROM TOURISM INCREASE BY 67.9 PERCENT IN JANUARY-SEPTEMBER

In the January-September period, Turkey’s tourism income increased by 67.9 percent over the same period of the previous year and reached $ 35 billion 28 million 540 thousand dollars.

In the same period, the number of visitors increased by 94 percent to 39 million 390 thousand 915 people.

During this period, the average spend per person was $ 889, while the average spend per night was $ 90.
