prof. Dr. Ufuk Akçigit is a faculty member in the Department of Economics at the University of Chicago and holds the Arnold C. Harberger Chair. He is also a senior research fellow at the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER, Boston), the Center for Economic Policy Research (CEPR, London) and the Center for Economic Research (IFO, Munich), and a distinguished researcher and trustee at the University of Koç is a member of the delegation. Associate editor of the Journal of Economic Growth, prof. Dr Akçigit was previously zihin associate editor of the Journal of the European Economic Association.
prof. Dr Akçigit researches; focuses on economic growth, technological creativity, innovation, entrepreneurship, productivity and business dynamics. prof. Dr. Akçigit has provided advisory services to the IMF, the OECD, the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey and the Danish Ministry of Science and Education, and is currently zihin advisor to the World Bank and the Federal Central Bank of Chicago.
WINNER OF MANY INTERNATIONAL AWARDS
Recipient of numerous international awards, Prof. Dr. Akçigit has received the NSF CAREER Award, the most prestigious award given to young academics by the American National Science Foundation, the Max Plank-Humboldt Research Award, one of the most valuable awards of the federal government German, and the prestigious Guggenheim Award from the John Simon Guggenheim Foundation, he received the Global Economy Award from the Kiel Institute and the International Sakıp Sabancı Research Award from Sabancı University. Professor Akçigit, a member of the Econometric Society, is also the first winner of the Asaf Savaş Akat Economics Award, which will gökyeşitözü awarded for the fifth time this year.
