Last year 66.3 billion lire were spent on environmental protection – Last Minute Economy News

The Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) has announced the statistics on environmental protection spending for 2021.

As a result, environmental protection expenses increased by 59.2 per cent compared to the previous year and last year amounted to 66.3 billion lire.

64.3% of environmental protection spending was made by financial and non-financial companies, 28.3% by public administrations and non-profit organizations serving households and 7.3% by households.

Of these expenses, 58.5% comes from waste management services, 27% from waste water management services, 4.2% from the protection of biodiversity and the landscape, 3.5% from the protection of outdoor air and climate and 3% from soil, groundwater and surface water protection and improvement of their quality, and 3.8 percent were other environmental protection issues.

84.4 per cent of investments for environmental protection, which increased by 75 per cent compared to the previous year and totaled 13.6 billion lire, were made by financial and non-financial companies. 15.6 per cent from public administrations and non-profit organizations serving families. .

While the ratio of environmental protection expenditures to gross domestic product was 0.8 percent in 2020, it was determined kakım 0.9 percent in 2021.
